Cool Math Trick

Here is a cool math trick that I found online:

– Grab a calculator (you won’t be able to do this one in your head)
– Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area code)
– Multiply by 80
– Add 1
– Multiply by 250
– Add the last 4 digits of your phone number
– Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again
– Subtract 250
– Divide number by 2

Recognize the answer?? If you followed the steps correctly, the final number should be VERY familiar to you.

    OMG!! I just wrote a long comment and clicked the submit button.. and it said I had to fill in the name and e-mail. And there was no editing session so I had to hit the back button of IE and the comment I wrote was gone!! so I am rewriting it… Hope it works this time!. Anyway, I really like your blog. nice job. I should work on my blog too. BTW, this math trick doesn’t work for me. I don’t recognize the output. Is is supposed to be my phone number?

    Let x = 1st 3 digits, y = last 4 digits |
    [x*(80) + 1]*(250) + y + y – 250
    = 125*(80*x + 1) + (y – 125)
